AEM FUEL / IGNITION CONTROLLER · F/IC-8
AEM F/IC-8 Fuel & Ignition Controller
Eight-channel piggyback engine control for projects that need measured changes to injector signals, ignition timing and selected sensor inputs while retaining the factory ECU.
LikedLinking helps buyers confirm the controller variant, wiring harness, vehicle electronics and tuning requirements before supply. Ask for the universal F/IC-8 controller, a compatible harness, or a project-specific package.
AEM is a third-party brand. The exact unit, condition, accessories and warranty must be confirmed in your quotation.

WHAT IT DOES
Additional control, with the original ECU in place
A piggyback controller sits within selected engine signal paths. The factory ECU remains responsible for its original functions; the F/IC-8 can intercept or adjust specific injector, ignition and sensor signals according to its wiring and calibration. It is not a plug-in promise for every eight-cylinder vehicle.
Typical enquiries involve turbocharging, supercharging, larger injectors, sensor signal correction or data acquisition. Engine code, factory ECU part number, injector type, trigger pattern and required functions determine whether this platform is suitable. A qualified tuner must develop and verify the calibration.

CONTROLLER CAPABILITIES
F/IC-8 technical overview
Functions below describe the AEM F/IC-8 platform; actual installation depends on the unit version, firmware, vehicle and complete wiring.
Eight injector channels
Interception and correction of up to eight factory injector signals, with provisions for auxiliary injector strategies subject to wiring and calibration.
Five timing channels
Camshaft and crankshaft signal handling, commonly described as four cam channels plus one crank channel. Verify the trigger system before ordering.
Injector load simulation
Advanced injector load simulation and filtering can help maintain the signal conditions expected by the factory ECU on supported installations.
Selectable MAG drivers
High- or low-voltage MAG-driver outputs address supported magnetic trigger signal arrangements; the electrical configuration must be checked.
Frequency-based MAF support
A frequency map can modify a supported frequency-output airflow meter signal. MAP, MAF, oxygen and analogue strategies require vehicle-specific verification.
Boost control option
PWM boost control can drive the specified AEM boost solenoid; the solenoid and plumbing are separate project items unless explicitly quoted.
Switched 12 V output
Programmable conditions can operate supported auxiliary devices, such as a relay for an intercooler spray or water injection system. Check output ratings and safety wiring.
Temperature & logging inputs
Intake air temperature signal input and internal or PC logging can support calibration review where correctly connected and configured.
The AEM manual also describes dual-calibration switching between two F/IC maps and a frequency-channel speedometer recalibration option. It does not establish that every vehicle’s factory speed limiter can be removed. Frequency-based MAF processing and speedometer recalibration share a frequency channel, so the same channel cannot serve both purposes at once. No increase in power is guaranteed by the controller alone.
LOGGING & CALIBRATION
Record the evidence behind each change
The F/IC-8 manual specifies a 2 MB onboard logger and a configurable internal sampling interval from 10 ms to 1275 ms. Recording duration therefore depends on the selected rate and trigger settings. Logged files can be downloaded to a PC as delimited text for spreadsheet review.
The source listing’s “640 minutes” and “5 ms” claims are not used here: the AEM F/IC-8 manual gives different logging examples and a 10 ms minimum setting. Ask for the exact hardware and software revision if a specific logging duration matters.
CHOOSE THE ACTUAL ITEM
Controller and harnesses are different products
A listing for a wiring harness is not evidence that the corresponding controller is included. We quote each part against the verified vehicle application.
MODEL DISTINCTION
F/IC-6 vs F/IC-8
These are related AEM products, not interchangeable labels for the same controller.

| Ignition timing channels | Confirm exact variant | Up to 5, application dependent |
| Internal logging | Check manual and hardware revision | 2 MB in AEM F/IC-8 manual |
| Current offer | Harness enquiry; controller supply to confirm | Controller or harness enquiry |
| Harness | Specified separately | Specified separately |

FREQUENT QUESTIONS
Before you order
Is the AEM F/IC-8 a standalone ECU?
No. It is a piggyback controller used with the factory ECU. A standalone ECU takes over broader engine-control responsibilities and needs a different installation plan.
Does an eight-channel F/IC fit every eight-cylinder vehicle?
No. Cylinder count is one factor. Trigger signals, injector characteristics, factory ECU, harness routing and tuning support must also be checked.
Is the wiring harness included?
Only if the quotation explicitly lists it. F/IC-6 and F/IC-8 harnesses can be requested as separate items, subject to availability and connector verification.
Can I buy a F/IC-6 controller here?
We have identified F/IC-6 harness listings. Controller supply requires a separate confirmation; do not treat a harness listing as a complete controller kit.
Can it switch between factory and tuned programs?
The documented user switch selects between two F/IC calibration maps. It should not be described as automatically switching the complete factory ECU program on every vehicle.
Does it include a boost solenoid or tuning service?
Do not assume either is included. Boost control requires suitable external hardware and professional installation and calibration. Your quotation should specify hardware and services line by line.
